Laser Resurfacing

Uncover the Younger-Looking You

Your skin takes the brunt of time’s unforgiving effects–from rough spots and hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure, to fine lines and wrinkles with which we all struggle as we get older. Laser resurfacing allows us to get rid of the dead and damaged surface layer of skin cells to reveal the youthful and healthy complexion that exists underneath. This non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment is a great way to achieve maximum benefits with minimal downtime.

The Benefits of Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing is a very effective option for men and women who want to restore the look of their skin and to take years off their overall appearance. Laser skin resurfacing can help treat common skin concerns, such as:

  • Acne scars
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Sunspots and sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation or melasma

Because this is a non-surgical treatment, patients love it as a way to get their skin looking its best for an upcoming event without having to take too much time away from their already busy schedules. Most patients can have their laser resurfacing treatment performed on a Thursday or Friday and be ready to return to work early the next week.

The Laser Resurfacing Procedure

At the Center for Plastic Surgery at Castle Rock, we work individually with patients to design a unique laser resurfacing treatment plan that is customized to the patient’s skin type, specific conditions, and goals. These factors will help to determine the strength of resurfacing necessary, as well as the length of your treatment and recovery.

Laser resurfacing is performed by carefully administering controlled laser energy to your skin’s surface in order to rid it of its dead outer layer. As these dull, aged skin cells are removed, a new, healthy layer of skin takes its place.

Immediately following your treatment, your skin will appear red, and you may experience some stinging or discomfort similar to that of a sunburn. This will gradually fade over the course of a few days to about a week, depending on your personalized treatment. Some blistering or peeling will likely occur, but it is important that you do not pick at or scratch the treated area. Once fully healed, you will notice that your complexion is healthy and glowing, and that your skin feels softer.
